VAPolyMk3 is a multi-synthesis polyphonic synthesizer designed for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, drawing inspiration from iconic analog synthesizers such as the Oberheim Matrix series of the late 1980s. This versatile software offers a rich combination of Subtractive and modular FM Synthesis, functioning both as a standalone application and an AudioUnit Extension (AUv3). The standalone mode includes support for Ableton Link, MIDI integration, and audio file export.

The Oscillator Section is robust, featuring three primary oscillators alongside three modulation oscillators. Each oscillator is equipped with its own envelope and amplifier, allowing for flexible routing options in both Subtractive and FM Synthesis. The signal flow is streamlined through a mixer, resonant low-pass filter, resonant high-pass filter, and amplifier. Additionally, VAPolyMk3 comes with two ADSR envelopes per voice, two LFOs, and an analog-style sequencer to enhance sound design capabilities.

Built-in effects add to its creative potential, including delay, chorus, flanger, reverb, EQ, and compression. The integrated sequencer boasts a piano roll editor and supports parameter automation. Users can save project files to iCloud Drive, granting seamless access across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

The application requires iOS 17.0 or later and is optimized for devices with substantial CPU power; those equipped with Apple Silicon or equivalent A-series chips are recommended. An A13 Fusion chip or higher is ideal. Users experiencing sound distortion on less powerful devices may need to disable the anti-aliasing option or reduce the number of voices used.

The AudioUnit Extension (AUv3) necessitates a host application that supports this format. Compatibility with AudioUnit Extension is confirmed in Apple Logic and Apple GarageBand on both iOS and macOS; however, support may vary across other DAWs.
